Join us as alt-rock trio 1283 makes a much-anticipated return to the stage after a hiatus following the independent release of their hard-hitting EP, ‘Death and Destruction’.
The old ‘Dancing Dog Café’ on the sleepy corner of Albert St. was one of 1283‘s most frequent and notorious haunts in the heyday of the 2010s DIY music scene in the West. Now the good folks at Mamma Chen’s have brought this Footscray staple back to life with a brand-spanking new venue, including a state of the art band room. We are extremely excited to welcome you back!
1283 merges the talents, tastes, and eccentricities of Dan Oke (garage-rock wunderkind ‘Jarrow’); world-class DJ, drummer, and percussionist Lucky Pereira; and Soundcloud-rapper turned ancient historian Leo Palmer (aka ‘130’).
Not to be missed, this show will see 1283 joined by an eclectic mix of up-and-coming artists who are guaranteed to get your Saturday arvo off and running to the perfect groovy start:
Moses Carr is a producer and multi-instrumentalist seeking to immerse his listeners with fluid textural music. His eclectic heavy beats have the intersection of Hip-Hop sensibilities and Afro-Cuban, Ghanaian and Sri Lankan music.
Also keeping the mics hot will be Mid-Evening, a soulful ensemble delivering laid-back grooves and feel-good funky vibes.
Set times TBA…
Mamma Chen’s acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the true owners of the land that we live and operate on. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
